What tests should a woman ask her doctor about?
Annual mammogram.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. Having early and regular exams is the best way to find breast cancer. Screening does not prevent breast cancer. But early detection can reduce the chance of dying from breast cancer.
What can you do?
Talk with your doctor or other health care provider about monthly self exams and how often to have screening mammograms (breast x-rays). Begin with breast self-exams every month. Some of the risk factors which increase your chances of having breast cancer include family history, your age, and race.
